This week’s scripture from Psalm 105 speaks to us: “Search for the Lord and his strength; continually seek his face.”

Prayer for the 25th anniversary of 9/11 – shared by Dexter Cantelou from former seminarian, Katherine Dougherty’s Facebook page:

 “God of mercy and compassion, on this solemn day, we remember before you the event of September 11, 2001.  We hold in our hearts the lives lost in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania – the innocent, the brave, the selfless.  We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the strangers who became neighbors, and the communities who rose from the ashes with courage and hope.  God of Love – In the face of hatred – you call us to love.  In the shadow of violence – you call us to peace.  In the depths of grief – you call us to hope.  Grant us the grace to honor the memory of those who died by living lives of compassion, justice, and reconciliation.  God of Healing – pour out your comfort on all who still bear the wounds of that day – the bereaved, the injured, the traumatized.  Strengthen those who work for peace in our world and guide the leaders of all nations to seek understanding over division, mercy over vengeance, and unity over fear.  God of Hope – we entrust to your care all who have died.  Though our hearts ache, we trust in your promise of life everlasting.  May their souls, and the souls of all the departed, through your mercy, rest in peace.  In Jesus’ name we pray – Amen.”
